Nine Black Roses is the name of my music project & I'm responsible (some might say guilty) for writing all the original music & lyrics. The Capital Region of Upstate New York is my home base. The sound and/or genre of Nine Black Roses can best be described as Americana. According to the Americana Music Association, Americana music is “contemporary music that incorporates elements of different American roots music styles including roots-rock, folk, bluegrass, country, R&B & blues, resulting in a distinctive roots-oriented sound that lives in a world apart from the pure forms of the genres upon which it may draw." Concerning the meaning or significance of the name Nine Black Roses, I offer the following explanation: In the realm of relationships, black roses hold a powerful place. They are not just flowers but a strong force. They convey feelings that are deep, intense, & often indescribable. Specifically, "nine" Black roses are presented as a sign of repentance & as a request for reconciliation & forgiveness. I think that’s something most, if not all of us can relate too. Whether you’re giving the flowers or receiving them. My goal (I assume like all musicians) is to have other folks understand, connect with, relate to & enjoy listening to my music. It is of course, nigh impossible to please everyone, but I hope my efforts will have garnered at least a few nods of appreciation.
